چکیده

Abstract OBJECTIVE Determination of the correlation between gamma-band modulations electrocorticogram (ECoG) induced by linguistic tasks and reproducible speech arrests caused bipolar direct cortical stimulations (DCS). METHODS 3 subjects (age 39, 56, 64 years) with left temporal lobe glioma underwent surgery involving awake craniotomy. A 4x8 ECoG electrode grid (2.3mm contact exposure, 1cm spacing) was placed above respective tumor area. MATLAB-Simulink based real-time software system running on a portable laptop computer used to map as 2D heat while engaged in different tasks: word/sound categorization pressing button, object naming, action written descriptive auditory naming. Auditory stimulus applied during task (duration 300 – 500ms), naming ( > 1s); other involved visual only. The repeated four DCS (2/4/6 mA, 60Hz, 2s) at pairs. RESULTS electrodes having stronger were distinct for tasks. Reproducible occurred object, action, stimulating specific pairs, even though not all these had strong activations Across consistently tasks, starting early 250ms lasting after stimuli terminated (~ 650ms). longer can be associated word recognition process. self-reported about difficulty comprehension rather than production arrests. 3D brain rendering using MRI images showed that arrest identically located superior gyrus, inferior central sulcus subjects. CONCLUSION Intraoperative language mapping guided utilized localize eloquent cortex processing.

ECoG gamma activity during a language task: differentiating expressive and receptive speech areas.

Electrocorticographic (ECoG) spectral patterns obtained during language tasks from 12 epilepsy patients (age: 12-44 years) were analysed in order to identify and characterize cortical language areas. ECoG from 63 subdural electrodes (500 Hz/channel) chronically implanted over frontal, parietal and temporal lobes were examined. Two language tasks were performed. During the first language task, p...

Passive real-time identification of speech and motor cortex during an awake craniotomy.

Precise localization of eloquent cortex is a clinical necessity prior to surgical resections adjacent to speech or motor cortex. In the intraoperative setting, this traditionally requires inducing temporary lesions by direct electrocortical stimulation (DECS). In an attempt to increase efficiency and potentially reduce the amount of necessary stimulation, we used a passive mapping procedure in ...

the evaluation of language related engagment and task related engagment with the purpose of investigating the effect of metatalk and task typology

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...
